Nontraditional.
I'm a molecular geneticist, researcher, and educator with a PhD in Molecular Genetics and Computational Biology from The Rockefeller University. I currently teach biological sciences at Seton Hall University and Ramapo College of New Jersey, with professional interests spanning biomedical research, science education, and the emerging applications of artificial intelligence in the biological sciences. I initially created this website to showcase my creative writing and my musings on science and philosophy in the hope of looking interesting to lab heads as I sought a gap year research position, and later to admissions committees as I applied to MD-PhD programs. In the past few years I’ve discovered visitors have mostly been interested in my journey from struggling with literacy as a child, to being a single parent working undercover in the NYPD’s Organized Crime Control Bureau, to starting medical school and graduate research. So I’ve added material to the about me page for benefit of those interested in that subject.
